“Bronte – what do you get up to when you’re off the course?” It’s a question I get asked… a lot.
Although my days will always centre around golf I like to think I’m fairly normal when it comes to everyday life. I know a lot of people would love me to say I eat sleep repeat golf, but there is a lot more that goes into my training than just being on the course.
Most of my daily routine will change depending on where I am in the world and whether I’m building up to a major tournament. It does tend to be a life on the road but for the foreseeable, I’ll be based in sunny Arizona.
6:30am
A typical day starts early for me, with my alarm waking me at 6:30. Ill roll straight out of bed and into my gym gear ready for yoga at 7am. I always want to start the day well and yoga is perfect for a relaxed start.
Gym Workout with trainer – I’ll work on some cardio for around 30 – 45 minutes as well as some mobility stretches that are tailored to the game.
I’ll have a quick break answering some emails and touching base with the girls to try and plan an afternoon session on the course.
9am
I’ll always try to eat as healthily as I can with post workout juices to give me a boost throughout the day. If you were to ask any of my friends they’ll tell you I’m obsessed with eggs and avocado. It’s highly unlikely I’ll be eating anything else for breakfast.
Ill head over to the course around half past 9 for a full session. Anything from long game, short game and putting to some chipping drills before taking a break for lunch (usually a chicken salad) before playing again in the afternoon.
2pm
Sometimes after lunch I’ll have a golf lesson, before picking up a friend for a more relaxed afternoon session. (Obviously with a little bit of friendly competitiveness thrown into the mix)
Living with someone like Mia makes it great for us to both focus on our own game in the morning and then spend the afternoon taking things a little less seriously.
5pm
Sometimes ill cook but if I’m really honest I tend to go out for dinner most nights. Now I’ve moved to Arizona it’s an even better excuse to try out new restaurants!
I like to go out early and be back home to relax for the rest of the evening. I’m big on psychology books. For me it’s a huge part of the game. Right now, I’m reading The Chimp Paradox by Prof Steve Peters.
After that it’s lights out ready for what the next day brings!
